A unique collaboration between Michael Leunig and singer/songwriter Gyan. Presented as 18 beautiful songs inspired by Leunig's poems and accompanied by a 48 page hard bound book of Leunig's words and drawings.
Guest artists on "Billy the Rabbit" include: Paul Kelly, Tim Gaze (Tamam Shud, Morning of the Earth), James Cruickshank (The Cruel Sea), Cleis Pearce (McKenzie's Theory), Thierry Fosmale (The Whitlams) and more.
"What a glorious fabulous and inspiring wonderment I have found upon my returning home from a weary week on the road. I'm completely enchanted, honoured and amazed by what you have done with my poems. I hear my own words afresh... mirrored back to me by an angel! This is a healing miracle. Bless you, thank you!" Letter from Michael Leunig to Gyan
"Gyan is a hugely gifted composer and a very fine singer. Her decision to take Leunig's poem-drawings and turn them into songs is inspired. The result is a genuinely great and original Australian album that Leunig admirers will prize"
Bruce Elder, SYDNEY MORNING HERALD
"...with range, technique and tonal sensitivity, Gyan matches Leunigs poems with equally fractured beauty in what could be described as chamber folk or symphonic sketches... Billie holiday and Lucinda Williams would approve"
